I fished Tuesday instead of Monday because of more manageable winds. Still a good breeze out of the southwest, but I hit some spots on the western shore north of Pineda Causeway near two canals. Not much action on topwater, but I picked up a couple of trout on softbaits. But puffers were plentiful and I quit softbaits after losing three to their choppers. I switched to a small lipped diving plug and a suspending twitch bait and started to pick off fish pretty steadily. Caught a nice chunky mangrove snapper off a dock end and was tempted to keep it for lunch, but thought I’d really need a couple to make a meal for the spouse and I so I let it go. Of course, I caught two more in short order. Ended up the morning with 5 trout, 3 mangoes, 3 tough jacks and 2 lady fish. I did spot a rolling tarpon in the 20-30lb class, but as usual, she wasn’t interested in my artificials. Nice morning for me. I hope there’s another decent weather day later this week.
