tarpon

Starting this week will be the beginning of our transitioning time of year. Our first cold front passed through over the weekend and brought us temperatures into the 60’s. Water temperatures on the lagoon were at 79 for me and I’m sure our area lakes are close to that as well. On the lagoon system, the water is way up from recent rains and still dark to sometimes dirty. My snook bite slowed down on my last outing but a few smaller ones were caught. I actually had my grand slam on the river which consisted of trout, snook, redfish and a tarpon. Large schools of 5-7 pound jacks are roaming around too which keeps the topwater bite fun at times.

On the freshwater side, the bass will be starting to move out of their deep water areas and move up to shallower areas with good sand type bottoms to start the spawning process. The Mullet Run will be winding down with the cooler water temperatures and I think the artificial bite will pick up for anglers.
