Another week of inclement weather made for some tough inshore fishing. While the trout, jacks, mackerel, snapper, Sheephead, bluefish and ladyfish weren’t too hard to catch the inshore redfish and snook bite was a bit slow for us. Bait was scarce and some of the areas are still full of fresh water from the last few heavy rains which makes for a tough bite. Inlet water was silty on incoming tide and dark from the rain mixed in on outgoing. Soft plastics such as doe paddle tails accounted for quite a few fish and shrimp helped the bit on the snapper and a few trout.

Another cold front this week should keep the pompano on the run and help clean up the water a bit as long as there isn’t a lot of rain associated with it. Hope to get off the beach and find some more pompano in the cleaner water as well as some mackerel and bluefish.
