This week was great on live bait. We caught 50-70 fish most days in six hours or less. The artificial bite was tough, but a few baits managed to put some quality fish in the boat — the Mike Bucca BullGill, Bass Assassin RSB worms in Gooseberry, Zoom Mag Monster worm Red Shad, Zman Poppin Shadz, and the Nichols Mag Fluter spoon.
The Bullgill fished on grass flats with spotty hydrilla fished just under the surface.
The Bass Assassin RSB and the Monster worm I’m fishing along grass edges in 8-12’ of water.
The Poppin Shad bite is good early on grass flats then I’m fishing them around Shad schools later in the morning.
I caught some decent fish on my Mega Live with the flutter spoon. I’ve kept this on under my hat a week or 2 but it works. And it is a really cool bite!
The S Canal is plugged. You can go through the east cut but be careful because there are people fishing right in the opening every morning. There is a low spot just to the south in the opening of the cut to the east so I run over in the kayak canal.
I’ve got a few openings in July so book soon! Call or text 772-494-7400.
