big bass

The artificial bite has been pretty tough this week. Most of my artificial trips have been big swimbait trips. The baits we caught fish on this week were the Mike Bucca Bullshad in 7” Bone, 9” BullGlide, 6” BullGill Bone, Hogfarmer A Rig with Bass Assassin Die Dapper swimbaits, and 6” Citizen swimbaits.

I landed an eight pounder on the A rig earlier this week slow rolling it in deep water near pods of baitfish. The Bass Assassin Die Dapper swimbaits are perfect size on the A rig to match the hatch. I was using the shiner colored Dappers.

All my Bullshad fish were on baits worked very slowly. Usually I fish the swimmers right under the surface but they aren’t wanting to chase baits right now. Everything is slow and methodical with lots of pauses.

The shiner bite is still off the charts with plenty of big fish being caught and lots of PBs being broken. I like free-lining in deep water this time of year or fishing under blockages.

Good luck and tight lines this week!
