The lake is still pretty warm (84 degrees) but that’s better than 93 in my last report. Top baits this week for me has been a Bass Assassin RSB worms, Baby Torpedo, Hogfarmer Underspin with a Bass Assassin Lil Boss and the Mike Bucca 6” Bullgill. I’m fishing the baby Torpedo around schools of Shad. A simple rip, stop and repeat retrieve. I’ll pause a couple seconds between rips. The will come up and crush it!
The 1/4oz Hogfarmer HD underspin he also been a great producer on these schooling fish. I’ve been using the Bass Assassin Lil’ Boss in Mat Shad color as my swimbait on this rig.
I’m fishing the RSB worms in ditches and deep water areas. I’m using an 1/8oz weight and putting a bobber stopper 10” above my bait. Fish it slow slow slow. Almost a dead stick retrieve by dragging a foot and let it sit as long as you can stand it. The live bait bite is just unbelievable right now. The bigger fish are starting to show themselves a little more.
