Hope everyone had a great week and got to do some fishing! As I’m sure everyone noticed, Hurricane Erin swept past Florida this past week and brought some giant swells along the beaches. The awesome thing is that it carved out some new troughs for us to fish! The bite has also picked up after the storm. We’ve finally been getting some rain beachside, which has really turned the fish on. Another big update worth sharing is that mullet schools have started running the beaches—it’s that time of year again!
We’ve been seeing much bigger whiting being caught, along with black drum, jacks, and plenty of smaller pompano. The catfish are still hanging around, but they haven’t been as common as last month. Pompano rigs with white and pink floats have been the hot ticket, especially when paired with a piece of peeled Blue Magic shrimp and a strip of pink Fishbites. The fish have been holding close in the first trough, so make sure to try fishing in tight before bombing casts way out.
Snook season is right around the corner, and they’ve already been showing up along the beaches. We’ll have some shop sales kicking off in September, so keep an eye on our social media so you don’t miss out. As always, tight lines and see y’all at the shop!
