The fishing this week was a bit tough with the high surf, king tide, and weeds. However, the Surf Fishing Challenge hosted by Roy Matson was held on Saturday October 24th in New Smyrna Beach, with 115 entries and a number of large sponsors. We were faced with high current and weeds, but fish were caught and brought to the weigh in. Lots of nice whiting, but only three legal pompano and no redfish made it to be weighed in. The winning whiting crossed the scales weighing in at a nice 1.5 pounds. The pompano winner and largest fish of the day came in by one of the junior anglers. Overall, it was a great day and fun was had by everyone involved.
