redfish mosquito lagoon

The weather has started to get into its summer time pattern here on the East Coast of Florida with the hit days and afternoon showers. Looking at the extended forecast for the Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach area it’s calling for chances of afternoon showers into next week. The weather has not been the only thing hot here in Central Florida the bite has been as well. With the bait moving throughout the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and into Mosquito Lagoon the game fish are following. Look for the trout and redfish to be holding in and around the bait pods.

The black drum can still be found in the shallow sand holes and mud flats feeding in crustaceans. They have been focusing on shrimp the past few weeks. The snook have been holding on deeper shorelines and around structure that has had a constant flow of moving water with bait near by. The redfish, trout and snook have been very receptive to both live bait and artificials.
