The Stick Marsh is still in a somewhat summer pattern way of fishing as of last week. We threw top water first thing in the morning but all they were doing was swiping at our lures and not really eating them. We switched over to lipless crank baits and started to hook up fish. It’s funny how temperamental these fish can be on color choices. I was throwing a shad pattern color and my friend was throwing a blue and chrome with an orange belly color, he was hooking up constantly while I struggled for bites until I changed over.
Once the sun was higher in the sky the bite slowed so we made a move to an area that has some moving water. We Carolina Rigged the shell beds that were in 8-10 feet of water and started catching fish. None of the fish had any size to them but it was a fun bite. We ended up the day with 25 fish to our outing. The water temperature was sitting at 84 degrees at the days end so we headed back to the parking lot.
This week looks like a wet and windy one as we all watch to see if the system out in the Atlantic will bring in just a stormy few days or changes to another Tropical Depression.
