I was finally feeling well enough after recovering from the flu to get on the water this past week. My wife and I headed for the Stick Marsh hoping to come across some schooling action. With a high pressure and a full moon I wasn’t expecting much but you can only hope to catch a few. I headed straight to a spot that the schooling activity was from prior weeks and to my surprise they were busting Shad once again. I rigged her rod up with a jerkbait lure and I wanted to throw my fly rod with a popper style fly pattern. We managed to catch about 15 fish in the first hour and also doubled up several times with bass. It was all over in an hour’s time. We were off the water by 10.
The waters are starting out at 86 degrees and the levels are getting lower each day so caution is to be taken until our summer rains fill up our lakes soon.
