Here is a quick fishing report to help you guys out this week. The S Canal is open and the cut to the east is open. If you are navigating from the cut to the east and heading south, and you hit the north pit, if you see boats in the pits go east and give them some room. You will not hit anything but grass to the east of the north pit. Everyone is wanting to run in the pit close to boats and it’s not necessary. I’m sure the folks fishing the pits will appreciate the curtesy.
Now, we have been catching numbers and good quality on Bass Assassin Vapor Shad in watermelon red with a 5/0 EWG hook weightless in the flats. Chatterbaits or Boneshakers with a gold blade are still my top producer on Headwaters. My go to swimbait is the Mike Bucca 8” Bullshad. I’ve had customers three days this week catch their first swimbait fish. I think I’m more stoked than they are sometimes when they catch them on the big baits. It’s such a fantastic bite!
Stick Marsh has had the water moving since the last hurricane and the fish are stacked at the south spillway. Throw a chrome Rat-L-Trap half ounce or three eighth ounce and fish the current. There has been several people catching over 100 fish. Mike Bucca Bullshads and prototype baits worked very well to catch big fish. Bass Assassin RSB worms in Junebug Red with a quarter ounce weight Texas rigged will also put fish in the boat.
