Haven’t had time to report but last Saturday I landed a nice almost 17” Spanish off the EG catwalk. Also had some kind of mega mystery beast that I battled for 3 good minutes on my ultra light set up before it destroyed the shrimp tipped pompano jig I was tossing. Also caught the Spanish and a bunch of jacks with the aforementioned jigs, various color combos. No pomps to be seen. Ugh.
Went back Sunday evening and some more jacks. Could see what looked like a killer frenzy of Spanish about 1/4 mile south, moving south also.
Today just cats. Water was dark and murky as hell. But I guess that’s to be expected.
How far down the catwalk you go? I had better luck with trout and no catfish closer to shore halfway between the beginning of the walk and the bend under the bridge
Oh I go ALLL the way down to the end and fish the sides. Never had any luck off the end proper. Plus I always felt real disadvantaged if you did get into a tangle there with something big. He’d have numerous angles to break you off. I generally jig down there so I take the better side against the current.
