This past week was a tough one on the Space Coast and there is really no way around it. The recent cold front put a noticeable damper on the bite across the board. Snook were by far the most challenging target. Numbers were low but a few cooperative fish could still be found if you put the time in.

Most of the success came from protected backwaters that stayed out of the wind especially areas with soft bottoms and minimal current. The fish are definitely lethargic right now and it shows. Feeding signs are not nearly as obvious as they were the previous week so patience is key. Slowing things down and paying closer attention to subtle clues like small disturbances faint movement or the occasional quiet sound made all the difference.

The good news is that temperatures are on the rise and that warming trend should help wake these fish back up. As conditions stabilize expect the bite to gradually improve over the coming days.
