Snook season opens in about a week and the late summer bite is red hot! Big snook are crushing our live baits right now. Menhaden and mullet are the two top baits they have preferred for the last few weeks. Croakers have come in third as far as bait goes, but they will catch a few fish if you can’t find the other two options.

Snook are in the surf and near the inlets on most days. Some of the reefs out of Sebastian are holding snook as well. A simple knocker rig is about all you need to get them to strike. Using a 40 or 50 pound fluorocarbon leader is helpful as well. This isn’t as visible as 60 lb so you will get more bites.

As I mentioned, catching is great right now. If you would like to keep a slot sized fish once the season opens on September 1st give me a call or check my availability on my website. I do have a couple of days open if you’re interested in getting out and having some fun on the water with me. If you have any questions you are welcome to call and I’ll answer them 321-636-3728
