Scott got on a hot snook bite while he was down for a few days!
It was a great week fishing the inlet and inshore. Snook and redfish were very active on incoming tides during the day with live pinfish and pigfish. Incoming or outgoing tides were both pretty consistent. With warmer weather this week and the opening of Snook season, the bite should be good, but the crowds will definitely be out in force.
When the seas were too rough to fish the inlet and beaches for snook and redfish, the pompano bite was good around the tide switch in the inlet and around the islands. There’s also some trout in the inlet as well, and they will eat live shrimp as well as soft plastics worked along the shorelines in the inlet. Pompano jigs were the best baits to cover water for the pompano inshore and in the inlet, and they worked on other species as well. If it’s too rough and you still want to get fish to eat, try the rock piles in and around the inlet for Sheepshead and snapper. Live shrimp, fiddler crabs and fishbites will all work great as bait.

Bennet and his dad Scott with a nice Redfish Bennet got to bring in.
