Just back from a very short surf fishing trip to Satellite Beach here in Melbourne. The wind and high seas of the last ten days, or so, has exposed large chunks of coral up and down the beach as far as I could see. After losing two rigs in a short space of time I had to give up. I’ve fished this beach before and never got snagged. We’ll have to wait until the sand comes back and buries everything.

What tide were you fishing and at which beach? A nice cast should probably get you beyond the rock hazard. To avoid getting snagged on retrieve, remember to keep your rod tip up and reel fast all the way in without stopping.
