Although the weather has been terrible these last few weeks, a few boats have been able to get out. The sailfishing here has seemed to slow down a little bit with most boats only seeing a couple fish per day. The wahoo fishing however, has been pretty good still. The majority is high speed fishing with custom lures from the shop here along with some of the bart metal heads and the new nomad lures, 14-20 knots depending on the conditions. Fishing over structure such as ledges and wrecks has been pretty productive.

There has also been a handful of wahoo, mahi and blackfin tuna caught where ever the guys have been finding a good edge or temp break going from green to blue water. Bottom fishing has been good as well. Big trigger fish and redeyes have been biting the chicken rigs along with amberjacks, almacos, snapper and grouper on the long leaders. Unfortunately, the grouper and red snapper have to be released but they are still fun to catch!

If you’re going out fishing, come see us at New Smyrna Outfitters and we’ll get you all geared up with everything you need!
