pompano prime time

The moon and stars may be aligning just right over the next few days to hit limits on pompano in the surf. We’ve got a full moon and the solunar calendar forecasts the month’s PEAK fish activity on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Major and Minor periods of peak fish activity for both days are:

TUESDAY MAJOR:
12:18 PM – 2:19 PM

TUESDAY MINOR:
6:36 AM – 7:36 AM
5:55 PM – 6:55 PM

WEDNESDAY MAJOR:
12:42 AM – 2:42 AM
1:07 PM – 3:07 PM

WEDNESDAY MINOR:
7:33 AM – 8:33 AM
6:35 PM – 7:35 PM

Currently, the weather projects to be windy and wet on Wednesday, so Tuesday looks like the most promising shot to fill a cooler at the beach. In Central Brevard on Tuesday, high tides will be around 7:22 AM and 7:28 PM with low tide at 1:33 PM. The period just before and during falling tide tends to typically produce well for pompano, and this same period happens to coincide/overlap with each of the day’s windows of forecasted peak fish activity. This means there should be some great catching potential on Tuesday all morning and early afternoon, and again for a few hours in the evening starting around 6:00 PM.

Also note that, to this point, beaches on the south end of the county around Sebastian Inlet have been reportedly holding pompano, while there hasn’t yet been much reported activity further north.

Will it be pompano prime time tomorrow? The conditions look to line up well, but there’s only one way to find out for sure!
