We have hit that time of year where the tropics start to get fired up with storms. Here in Central Florida, we definitely keep a eye on the radar for approaching tropical storms and hurricanes. We have already had one scoot by the south of us so fingers crossed we can make it another year without a hit.
The bite has been good in both Mosquito Lagoon with several species making it boat side this past week. The trout have been chewing well along with some redfish mixed in, as well. Look for bait pods early in the shallows and as the water temps heat up, move to the edges of the flats. Plugs, plastics, live shrimp, pig fish and mullet have all been working well. You can find a variety of species in the lagoon and river backwaters right now. We have been boating snook, jacks, trout and redfish along with the occasional tarpon. Live shrimp and finger mullet have been working well but plugs, spoons and soft plastics on a jig head work as well.
Looks like the weather will be stable into the weekend so get on the water and enjoy.
