bass fishing

We have been catching some monster post spawn fish this week. We boated 2 over 10lbs and several others over 7lbs. These were all caught on shiners. That being said the artificial bite has been picking up as well. The artificial baits of choice is the Bass Assassin RSB worm in Gooseberry and Redbug colors, a 1/2oz gold shiner Jackhammer with a Bass Assassin Vapor Shad in Panhandle Moon, Bass Assassin Whoopa Craw St John’s Special 1.25oz weight punching and a Mike Bucca 9” Bone BullGlide.

The RSB worm we are swimming over hydrilla or we are dragging it in ditches to catch our better fish. I’m using an 1/8oz weight dragging it or a 1/16oz when we swim it.

bass report

I’m fishing the Jackhammer as slow as possible through scattered hydrilla. Almost like worm fishing it through the hydrilla. Just crank it enough to keep the blade vibrating and let it fall off the clumps of grass.

We caught some decent fish punching hyacinth that had a couple feet of water under them. I downsize my weight as much as I can and still get it to drop through most of the time.

The BullGlide I’m using these in open water whenever I get the opportunity. I’m gliding this bait pretty slowly and you will get bumped often just be ready to set the hook.

Shiners are working everywhere we went. Deep, Shallow, in ditches or flats it really didn’t matter too much. They are on the feed with live bait.

Hope you guys catch some monster bass this week.
