black drum mosquito lagoon

This past week along with Memorial Day Weekend was a scorcher with highs in the mid 90s. The temperatures were not the only hot thing in the New Smyrna Beach area though, as the bite on Mosquito Lagoon was just as hot. As the week went on it definitely increased in boat traffic but retreating to the backwaters was the key. Finding the bait pods and targeting the edges has been working well for the trout and redfish as the deeper shorelines have been holding a good number of snook, mangrove snapper and jacks.

As we move into this up coming week things will get back to normal boat traffic and the bite should only get better.
