Had a decent week fishing the beach for tarpon, jacks, sharks and bonito. Live baits and artificial baits have been working well. Noah even got his first bonito on the fly rod.
The inlet is loaded with Snook and jacks right now as well as Jewfish. The problem is that every fish released has a very high chance at getting eaten by the Jewfish as they have become a huge nuisance to the jetty snook fishermen.
Inshore fishing can be good if you are on the east shoreline up in Grant or near the inlet. The freshwater flows from the creeks along the lagoon has put a lot of freshwater in the lagoon and made the bite tough if you don’t find the clean water and bait. There is a lot of bait in Grant and some big tarpon in the lagoon. Live bait or fly gear are your best bets for lagoon Tarpon.
