The freshwater bite has been very slow this past week except for the people using live shiners. I fished Garcia a few days after the big cold front and didn’t even get a bite. To me this is very unusual as it holds great numbers of fish in a small 3000 acre body of water. All my usual spots for this time of year were almost void of any hydrilla. Water levels have dropped about a foot as well.

My next outing was on 3 Forks and once again it was a few bite day. I love to throw a Beetle spin because you can catch bass, bluegill and crappie with it. This past Thursday I fished Stick Marsh and only caught 7 fish between the two of us. The Headwaters impoundment is not keeping up to its reputation with the exception of live shiners bite. Our Florida Strain bass are just not liking these weather changes.

This coming weekend we will have another big front with cold conditions once again. I’m already looking forward to Spring to get here.
