Lake Garcia is still producing bites for me. The only change is the lake every time I go there. The north entrance was semi open on Monday and on Tuesday it was completely blocked with floating islands. The south end is still a little sketchy to take but the center area just off the race track is open. Proceed with caution as some boaters might also be using it as well. Just trim up, and if possible, raise your jack plate to idle through. Once you are in the lake it deepens up. As you fish and move around be cautious of all boats doing the same as there are many blind spots and accidents could happen fast.
Monday had very little wind in the morning so I chose to fly fish, throwing a Stealth Bomber pattern. My second cast hooked into my first fish which swallowed my fly. As the winds picked up, we switched to a small YO ZURI wake bait lure. Instead of waking the surface we burned the lure under the surface of about one foot over submerged hydrilla. All in all, we caught 30+ fish.
Tuesday was an exact copy of the day before. We are finding more and more bedding activity but no bass on them yet. All in all it was a great fishing week. This cold front which is moving through today might drop the water temperatures some but not drastically so the fish shouldn’t be affected and the bite will only get better. I’m hoping that this full moon coming up might bring the bigger fish out to be caught.
