Sebastian offshore fishing

April is the month of the Mahi! With the strong West wind we have been experiencing this month, the dolphin have been pushed further offshore than we normally find them this time of the year. Most of the fish are being caught between 250 and 600 feet of water along with some insane catches happening on the “other side.”

The reef bite is starting to heat up, as well. We still have a few cobia hanging around, clinging to the sharks. Live bait or a high eel pitched to them should do the trick. On the bottom, the snapper are starting to chew. The Lane snapper have been on fire on the inshore bar in 60 feet of water and the bigger mangroves are starting to really bite on the deeper ledges. If you can find live pilchards you should be in for a good day! The kingfish bite has been pretty solid on the inshore bar, as well — live silver bait on a stinger rig should produce some great fish dip.
