With my boat in the shop most of the week I had the opportunity to tagalong with a good friend to Headwaters. This impoundment known for giving up giant bass has been a disappointment for the lure fishermen. Yes, if you like to punch a heavy weighted soft plastic in the thick vegetation you might get a bigger fish but it hasn’t been too frequent for me lately. We tried different lures and caught fish on some of them but no real pattern has been dialed in yet. Water temperatures are around the 73 degree mark and you would think they would be spunkier. Anglers throwing shiners are getting great numbers of fish but few above the 7 pound or bigger size. We just had a full moon over the weekend so I’m hoping the next one, which is in the last week of November, will show the spawning ritual picking up.
