bass fishing headwaters

The lake is very hot (93 degrees) by the end of the day. Last year, water temperatures were already down in the upper 70s. Hopefully, we will see the temps dropping soon because fishing in October 2022 was incredible. I keep a log book and make notes everyday I’m on the water. History on Headwaters shows water temps in the 70s the artificial bite will be really good.

Top baits this week for me has been a Bass Assassin RSB worms, 6th Sense Catwalk and the Mike Bucca Trick Shad 7”.

The 6th Sense Catwalk in Gold Shiner and Shad Burst is catching around bait balls. I’m fishing these around schools of bait and wind blown points. I caught 2 over 7lbs on this bait the past 5 days. The topwater bite is always exciting!!!

I’m fishing the RSB worms in ditches and deep water areas. I’m using an 1/8oz weight and putting a bobber stopper 10” above my bait. Fish it slow slow slow. Almost a dead stick retrieve by dragging a foot and let it sit as long as you can stand it. Gooseberry, Watermelon Slice and Black Blue Glitter Tail is the colors you can find them at BassAssassin.com

The Mike Bucca Trick Shad 7″ is my go to for big bites. Fish it very slow like and underwater spook near wind blown points or bait balls. Bone is my favorite color. Get on the Bullshad email mailing list so you know when these will be available via a bait drop Bullshad.com

The live bait bite is just unbelievable right now. Six dozen shiners will last two hours or less in the right areas.

Tight lines!
