I was able to ride shotgun and fish Headwaters this past week. At 7am the parking was already into the overflow lot. Way too crowded for me but enjoyed a day on the water. We managed 13 fish, all on the smaller side compared to what this impoundment has to offer. It seems that these fish are really dialed in on live shiners and turn their noses to artificial baits. We at least figured out a pattern. My favorite lure to throw in these impoundments has been a Bubblegum Zoom Trick Worm sometimes with just the hook or using a 1/8 oz. weight to get it down in the water column a little more. We were in some heavy hydrilla with little open pockets. There sure were a lot of boats screaming around the lake that day too. All in all a great trip. The weekend gave us some extreme cold but some springtime weather is to show up by the weeks end.
