The bite continues to be pretty good in Mosquito Lagoon and backwaters north through the New Smyrna Beach area. We have been targeting several different species from redfish and trout to snook and black drum. Although the temperatures have been pretty toasty this past week, it hasn’t stopped the bite. Both artificial’s and live bait have been working well especially early morning. By mid morning moving over to live bait has been the ticket as the fish start to move to deeper water off the flats.
We still have plenty of bait scattered throughout the area which continues to hold fish. Targeting the bait pods early has been successful for both redfish and trout.
The up coming week looks to be the same weather pattern as what we have had so the bite should continue to be strong.
