redfish

As these afternoon thunderstorms continue to flare up from New Smyrna Beach south through Mosquito Lagoon getting out early has been the trick. The bite has definitely been an earlier bite and tapering off by mid day. The bait continues to be holding in great numbers throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters. Both artificials and live bait have been working well. Plugs and soft plastics have been producing some great trout and snook bites early then moving over to spoons and flukes later in the morning for redfish. Live bait like shrimp, mullet and pin fish have all been working well to bring several different species boat side.

It looks as though this weather pattern of afternoon storms is here to stay for a while so focusing on the morning bite is best.
