Hot summertime weather is setting in on the Harris Chain. With hot weather comes frogs and other critters on the move. These can be the best imitation that you can mimic to be productive.

During the warmer weather bream and bluegill spawn. These can be another great forage for the bass. A weightless soft plastic jerk bait can really play with numbers as well as bigger fish. I really don’t think there is a way you could rig them that wouldn’t work.

Hollow body frogs are another bait that I use as a search tool when near lily pads and some reeds, etc. Long casts can make for that stealthy approach but remember to use some braided line 40lb test or higher or you could break off when the big one crushes your bait.

Another bait to try is a soft plastic trick worm. I use a 1/4 oz. bullet weight to a 4/0 ewg worm hook to rig a texas rig. You can make long casts and feel your way through submerged vegetation and other structures. Be sure to checkout our website for lots of fishing pictures and other outdoor content!
