lake garcia fishing

Lake Garcia was pretty busy last week with a full parking lot and also a few Pros fishing it, as well. Overall, the bite was very disappointing. I’m not a person that likes to flip and I think that is what it took to have a better bite. They also have done some spraying on the lake, as well.

The next day we were at 3 Forks, and this time we got out of our comfort zone and headed south to the Satori ponds. This area to the south is totally different from what the northern end has to offer. We had no idea where to start the day. I lost a really good fish when it jumped out of the water and threw my worm back to me.

We then moved to another part of the lake I fished about a year ago and was somewhat familiar with. The wind was very strong out of the east but we managed a fun day, to say the least. We put down the bass gear and started to throw beetle spins in hope of a Crappie bite, but they didn’t seem to be there. To our surprise, we did catch over 20 nice bluegill and 5 bass to save the day.

On another note, the St. Johns Water Management is starting to conduct a water draw down on both Stick Marsh and 3 Forks for the months of February and March. All in all, it was said they were to pull approximately 4’ of water out of the two impoundments. Also, they are anticipating planting aquatic vegetation to take hold when the drawdown is at its lowest point. This will be very interesting to monitor and hopefully will help our Stick Marsh get back to what made it so famous 20+ years ago.
