The artificial bite has been as good as I’ve seen it in a long time. The most productive baits for us has been a half ounce Golden Shiner Jackhammer (Hogfarmer Spunk Shad TN Magic), a Bass Assassin RSB worm (Gooseberry), Lucky Craft Gunfish 115 (Flake Flake Golden Sexy Minnow), and Nichols Pulsator Gold Blades White and Chartreuse (Flapjack Sight Flash trailer).
We boated over 120 fish the past 2 days on the Jackhammer on the flats fishing them through the scattered hydrilla. The Gunfish produced early and mid day. I had an 8lber at 2pm on a blue bird sky day.
We fished in deeper water like the pits, ditches and canals with the rest of the baits. We focused on the grass edges and fished the RSB worms very slowly. We also fished the Spinnerbait pretty slow along the edges of hydrilla.
We had 6 fish over 8lbs this week with 4 of the over 9lbs on Shiners. Shiners are easier to find now and readily available. Big bait Big fish when it comes to live bait right now.
