Central Florida as a whole has had some seriously dry weather this past month to two months making for some very crunchy lawns. The lack of rain has not affected the bite here in New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon.
The bait has been plentiful and scattered throughout the backwaters and grass flats. Look for the trout and redfish to be holding in and around the bait pods as the snook and jacks can be found along the deeper shorelines with structure. Plugs and soft plastics have been working well along with a variety of live bait. The extended forecast is not looking great for any rain but on the brighter note the clear sky’s make for some good sight fishing .
