I hope everyone had a fantastic New Years celebration, and that you’re all getting a chance to take your new fishing rods, reels and lures that you got for Christmas out to see just how much the fish like them. The inshore bite has been really good lately with black drum, speckled trout, and redfish leading the species list in the Banana and Indian Rivers. These will be the main species that I’ll be focusing on for the next few week’s as well.
We should get another round of cold weather at some point this month and after that cold weather breaks and we move into our next warming trend, we should see some giant black drum moving through the Space Coast as our water temperatures drop into the upper 50s across the area. For now, we still have mild weather conditions so fish like tripletail, snook, speckled trout and a variety of other species are keeping us busy along the near-coastal waters around Port Canaveral. We’re catching these fish on small artificial lures, like the Saltwater Assassin Lil’ P&V dart baits or live shrimp. Lemon sharks in the 25 to 75-pound class are another species that we can sight cast to on calm days. We have got some fantastic weather over the next couple of weeks here on the Space Coast and I have a handful of days open this month to be able to take you out and teach you how to use those new Christmas presents properly if you’re interested. Hit me up by phone or book your fishing excursion directly on my secure website -finelinefishingcharters.com and we will get out there to enjoy this awesome weather and catch your next memory!
