bass lure

I love my retirement so far for my first year at it. I was able to fish 4 days at 3 different lakes this past week. My first two days were on Garcia. The hydrilla is starting to die off some and I fished a different area than last. Monday was our first real taste of cold weather so I started around 10 am. I mostly fished a swimming style worm because of the blue bird skies and dragged it through submerged hydrilla. Caught several smaller bass doing so.

As the afternoon time came up I moved to deeper waters with submerged hydrilla but this time throwing a Rattin Vibe lipless crank bait in chrome and blue. No big fish again but nonetheless this pattern worked for bites. The next day I hit Garcia again but the morning started out with cloud cover. I busted out my faithful Prop bait and had a blast catching hungry buck bass, then after the sun came out went back to the lipless crankbait in the area the day before. There was some schooling activity and I was able to pick off a fish or two as well.

My third day was on Headwaters. We had a north wind between 10-15 to start our day. Still scouting new water and we made it down to the enhanced area known as Egan. Not much luck there, so we headed to an area from last week and caught small fish on small suspending jerk baits to save the day.

crappie

My last day was at 3 Forks. The bass didn’t want to cooperate so I tied on a Beetle Spin hoping for a bluegill but to my surprise the Crappie were eating it up. I boated 14 and sure wished I had a cooler. All in all a great week of fun.
