headwaters bass

Only one day on the water last week for me. This time I spent the day at Headwaters. With not spending much time at this wonderful body of water it surprises me just how clear the water is compared to its big sisters next door Stick Marsh waters are very dark, Garcia is dark as well but cleaner waters. We managed 18 fish throwing artificial baits. Most of the boats around us were floating Easter Eggs (shiners).

After the day was over before heading home, I drove to the Stick Marsh to take a look at the water level since the drawdown started at the beginning of March. The first thing that caught my eye was just how muddy the water was. It looks like the water level has dropped at least 2-3 feet so far. Anyone wanting to fish Stick Marsh should proceed with caution especially if they never experienced the Good Ole Days of bumping stumps.

I think our Spring will be short lived and Summer heats will be starting to take place. The topwater action will start to ramp up very soon.
