Big Snook some jacks and a bunch of trout in the Mangroves for Ron on a DOA Paddletail and a 1/8 ounce VMC jighead!
Inshore fishing was still good before the current cold front hit. Plenty of trout, jacks, pompano and a few snook along the spoil islands and mangrove shorelines. Trout, snook and jacks keyed in on the DOA Cal paddle tails and curly tail baits. Pompano keyed in on small soft plastics and doc’s goofy jigs.
Once that cold front set in on Thursday, the bite has slowed quite a bit. Current water temps in the river have gone from low 70s to low 50s. Much lower and we will start to see some snook die off. Weather will be warming up the the mid 70s and possibly 80 late this week and early next week so the water should warm up quickly. We should now see steady temps in the mid 60s will keep the pompano active and should push the bluefish and mackerel in to the river as well as push any flounder into the inlet.
If the seas calm down, nearshore will be the place to fish with a lot of mackerel, bluefish, jacks and pompano along the beaches.
