bluegill

I fished the same pattern as the couple of weeks before. 3 Forks is still giving us some action the first hours of the morning, but the bite shuts off way too soon. Throwing small Double Barrel poppers on the 5wt for bluegill and small bass still keeps it fun. The gators were having a great time eating the gar in the area as we just happened to be looking at the right spot at the right time. Getting to witness the alligators leap/lunge completely out of the water to capture their prey was exciting to see.

The next outing was back on the river. We hit our spot just as the sun was making a showing in the sky, but the bait wasn’t there as much as the weeks prior. We managed to pull a few small snook out from under the mangroves and also found some trout schooling up on a very shallow spot. The lures used were a Yo Zuri 3 DS suspending jerk bait for the deeper water and for the trout we threw a Yo Zuri 3D Inshore Wake Bait style lure that if retrieved just under the surface got the trout to eat.
