Despite the heavy rains and the freshwater in the lagoon, bite has improved quite a bit due to the amount of bait and cooler water temps. Plenty of Snook and quite a few slot redfish and a lot of big trout mixed in. Following the mullet schools are big schools of jacks from 3-5lbs to the bruisers over 20lbs and when they find the mullet schools the mayhem ensues. If you’re fishing a shoreline for snook and redfish and the jacks rollin, you will either need to focus on catching the jacks or move so the jacks dont eat everything you’re throwing at the other species you are targeting.
The cold front this week should help the bait run and keep the action going with cooler air and water temps.
