The beach fishing is on fire and toothy rockets are blasting off through the bait pods and our slow trolled offerings. Yep, king mackerel have finally hit the beaches in good numbers this week. I’ve been catching a bunch of them on live menhaden rigged in a double #4 treble hook wire stinger setup. Most of these kings are running 20 to 35 pounds. I’ve also had a huge number of sharks strike my baits in the 15 to 35-foot depths. Spinner, finetooth, and blacktip are the most prevalent, but you can throw in a couple of small 5 to 7-foot hammerheads just to make things interesting. The snook and redfish are still pretty good around the inlets and other near-shore structures plus we’ve landed some decent tripletail on floating debris and cans this past week. Live pogies or big shrimp are working for these last three species. The fall mullet run is coming and the flats in the Indian River are filling up with redfish and big trout so now is the time to get a trip scheduled to catch some fish. I also want to let all of you Spacefish readers know that I’ve asked captain Russ Glenn to help run my extra trips plus he’s going to be handling all of the weekend bookings we will be offering. For the last 15 years I have not been running weekend trips because of my live Saturday morning radio show, now with the help of Captain Russ we can get you out there to catch some excellent trout, redfish and snook on the weekends. You can book either Captain Russ or myself by visiting my website www.finelinefishingcharters.com/reservations to see what we have available or get in our mailing list to keep up with fishing trends and special deals we offer throughout the year. Until next time… Let’s go and catch your next memory!
