The water is warming up and so is the artificial bite. With the water temps hitting the low 80s by mid day it’s time to start draggin’ Bass Assassin RSB worms (Gooseberry, Plum Apple and Junebug Red) in deeper water or deeper canals.
Another great way to put some giants in the boat is to throw a Mike Bucca Bullshad along grass edges near deep water. There are several baits that are working. The 7” Bullglide, 7” Bullshad and if you are lucky enough to get your hands on the Trik Shad it’s a killer. Color didn’t matter much the little bit I got to fish this week. Bone or Gizzard worked equally well.
The chatterbait bite is really good right now for me. Clean water, dirty water, hot, cold and everything in between it just didn’t matter. They are eating the half ounce chatterbaits with a Hogfarmer 4.5 TN Magic Spunk Shad. I just ordered 24 bags from Hogfarmer’s website this week.
The topwater bite was off and on. Arnie Arras’s (AJ Custom Baits) had the spook that worked the best for our clients and Dan Lally’s clients this week.
The shiner bite is off the charts. Shiners give you the best shot at a giant bass if you only have a short time to fish.
I only have a few days left in May. May and June are a great time to throw big swimbaits. If you want to learn how I fish these baits or you just want to go catch some big FL bass, book your trip now. I have all the rods and tackle to throw the big baits. I still have April 17th open this month if anyone is interested. Call or text 772-494-7400 to book a trip of a lifetime.
