headwaters bass fishing

The artificial bite is getting really good. Fish topwater, big swimbaits, chatterbaits, speedworms or spinnerbaits and you’ll put fish in the boat. There is still giants being caught everyday on Headwaters.

The 130 size Whopper Plopper in Loon or a Shad colored one has been working all day long. You won’t catch 100 fish on this bait but the quality of the fish you do catch will be great.

Mike Bucca Bullshads in bone color and everything from 6”-9” is working in canals and deepwater edges. I had a couple today on a 4×4. It’s like a giant square bill and they work!

Throw a Jackhammer with a gold blade with a Hogfarmer Spunk Shad TN Magic out on flats with hydrilla and you’ll catch fish. Also, don’t sleep on a big spinnerbait with Gold Blades in those same areas.

Bass Assassin RSB worms in Gooseberry and Watermelon Slice are my go to colors for wormin’. I had a giant break my rod this week in a canal lined with hydrilla.

If you fish live bait, the bigger shiners ups your chances on getting a big fish. Fish live bait near deepwater on a freeline or some of these plugs in the canals. Both areas have huge fish!

Good luck this week!
