pompano

Long time no see, everyone. It sure has been windy the past month. I hope everyone got to fly their kites because fishing off the beach was not happening most of the time. We finally got a break from the weather the past week, allowing everyone to get back on the sand. The water has been dirty, and the waves have been dying down each day. With that being said, the days ahead of us look to stay on the low for the most part. The wind isn’t going to give up that easy, though, switching from east, west, south—you name it. It will be fishable, though.

There have been a few notable catches around town: big redfish, some pompano, bull whiting, and black drum. The rising tides have definitely been the best to fish. The water cleans up a little bit at those times. Baits of choice have been live sand fleas, frozen shrimp, and clams. Rig them on a pompano rig, whatever color floats that catch your eye. If the fish are in the area, they will hit your baits. Try and pair them with a piece of Fishbites as well.

The sand fleas have been harder to find with this cold front hitting us, but do you know who has some almost every day? The Fishing and Diving Center! Hahaha.

Hope to see everyone soon and Happy New Year! Tight lines.
