Get the breakdown on local fishing ahead of this Mother’s Day Weekend!

Offshore:
The best offshore action on the troll is happening between 60 and 140 feet. Anglers are catching kingfish, dolphin, sailfish, black-fin tuna and don’t be surprised if you get a wahoo. Also, grouper season started strong with good numbers of fish and some big ones. Big live baits work best.

Nearshore:
It’s tarpon time! There were some tarpon caught this week along the beach. As the bait continues to show up in better numbers the fishing will continue to get better as well. If you can’t find the bait look for diving birds.

Surf:
Most of the weeds have finally pushed away and we had a nice increase in whiting. There were a handful of pompano caught too. Snook are starting to school up for the spawn so there have been some decent snook caught from the beach too.

Lagoons:
The hot bite continues with snook and redfish leading the charge. While things have not changed much over the past week, the onset of rainy season will likely bring shifts in fishing patterns soon. For now, target shallow areas using small 3-3.5″ paddle tails on 1/16 or 1/8 oz jig heads, around bait and structure.

Freshwater:
Headwaters Lake is still producing substantial numbers of bass and big ones too! Capt. Kenny Haas said the top artificial baits this week were Jackhammer chatterbaits, Bass Assassin RSB worms and the Mike Bucca Bull Shad 6″ Trick Shad.
