Tight lines and cold drinks, that’s the story of Key West fishing this past week. With spring break in full swing the fishing has been great!

The gulf was the big hit this last week for Kings. Lots of guys were out back looking for the Spanish mackerel and Kings, there were fish caught up to 35-40lbs. I fished a couple smaller rock piles for the lane snapper, just keep a live ballyhoo on wire way back on top and you’ll get a couple big kings 🙂 I didn’t see lots of cobia but we did have our shots at a few.

Out front the bite’s been on fire for the yellowtail snappers with some muttons mixed in. Drop a bottom bait on a long 50lb. leader and a 5/0 circle hook, leave it in the holder till the rod looks like it’s going to break and you’ll get him. The tuna and sails are still around, finish up your box of snapper and make a quick run just outside the reef to target them. It’s always worth spending a little time 🙂

Tarpon are still showing up. The front we had Tuesday might give them lock jaw for a few days but with the warmer weather that fishery is only going to get better.

That’s all I got this week. We’re looking forward to another great week fishing here in the southern most city.
