Fall is quickly approaching and small pods of mullet are already starting to show along the beaches. The famous “mullet run” is almost sure to be a good one this year. With early signs of mullet, the bite should definitely improve. Anglers can find lots of action along the beaches and surf with a multitude of species ranging from Spanish mackerel, bluefish, snook, tarpon, jacks, sharks, and much more.
The fall months usually provide lots of action and the variety makes for lots of fun. Anglers can find best results simply by watching for mullet pods along the surf. Smaller mullet in the 3-6 inch range will definitely get you lots of attention. For anglers looking for larger species like sharks and tarpon a 6/8 inch bait is a better choice. Large swimbaits and top waters work well, too ,for the artifical enthusiasts. This time of the year is usually easy to find fish and very visual, just keep your eyes open and don’t over complicate your setup and over think the fish. At times you will see fish blowing up from all directions and may struggle to get a bite, but a little patience goes a long way.
The next few weeks should continue to be really good, I encourage everyone to get out and enjoy some of the best fishing the Space Coast has to offer.
