Salty Sarge here with a surf report for Melbourne’s south beaches. This week the surf has finally calmed down bringing a lot surf fishing action to the beach. The water was clear and clean and the ocean was teaming with life. Bait fish were in abundance as well.
John Detmer and I from J & H Surf Fishing took a client out on Wednesday and did quite well. Landing 2 blue fish ranging from 18 to 20 inches. Two keeper Pompanos From 12 to 13 inches. The whiting were biting as well. We produced 2 bull whiting. A 17 and a 18 incher.
There were plenty of anglers up and down the beach taking advantage of the weather all of which were producing fish as well. I spoke to a individual who landed a keeper flounder. On Thursday the bite was still on from the reports I was getting. Spanish Mackerel were schooling up and down the beach as well as pompano and blue fish.
