fish gum pompano

South Florida surf fishing is on! Prior to this Arctic front our resident fish showed strong on Hutchinson Island. The pomps ranged from two to three pounds. Strong onshore winds and falling water temps provided the stimulus. The best fishing was early morning and late afternoon. The key was 2 hours before the high tides. The rougher seas provided creamy water which provided safety from the huge population of predators. The creamy water is derived from suspended replenishment sand.

The anglers that prospered used 20 to 30 pound fluorocarbon rigs with large bobbing float attractors. Mono is too sparkly and invites mackerel and bluefish to chew your rigs. This year is our tenth year selling the prescribed rigs. I invite you all to my site to see the new “Surfari Rigs.” Recently featured on Florida Insider Report with Dave Ferrell. I also invite you all to try the quality rigs from Salty McCrory Salty’s Pompano Rigs, (James Pemberton, Frisky Fins and Bearded Brad Warren.) They are awesome friends that offer years of experience and quality assurance.

Last year I was honored to become National Sales Manager for Fishgum “Excite the Bite” scented strips. Each roll has clams, shrimp, crab and sand fleas in each color. Designed with six layers of membrane that dissolves in 15 minutes the product doesn’t require refrigeration. Fishgum is successfully used from Montauk through South Florida. Tony Faggioni is the inventor and owner. The production Facility is in Navarre, Florida. We have an impressive presence on Facebook with numerous surf videos. Pretty exciting product to say the least! We have Fishgum Ambassadors throughout Florida. Our East Coast anglers include Captain Mike Connors (The River Keeper), Kevin Cooke (Last Minute Fishing Charters) and Captain B.F. Robertson out of Melbourne Beach.
